German graphic designer, Lucian Bernhard greatly influenced the genre of advertising by developing some of the most recognizable American business advertising and trademarks.
He helped create the style know as Plakatstil (poster style) which used reductive imagery and flat color as well as Sachplakat (object poster) which restricted the image to the object being advertised and the brand name.
